Our Story
Joyhaus was started by two moms who live in Southwest Atlanta and kept running into the same problem. There was nowhere nearby to take their kids.
The two met through drop offs and pick ups at their children's school and became friends the way parents do. Over time they kept coming back to the same idea: a nearby place where kids could play, parents could relax, and families could build the kind of community that makes a neighborhood feel like home. They looked for something like that in Southwest Atlanta, did not find it, and decided to build it themselves.
Joyhaus is a play café for families with children ages 0 to 10. The permanent space is in development, and in the meantime Joyhaus is already showing up through classes and events hosted across Southwest Atlanta in partnership with local businesses.
Our Vision
Joyhaus began with a shared feeling that there was not a place that truly held both children and caregivers well. Not somewhere calm and beautiful, not somewhere close by, and not somewhere a parent could actually enjoy being while their child played.
We are starting with classes for children ages 0 to 3, beginning with Baby Music and Sensory Art, along with events designed to bring local families together. These early offerings are intentionally small and grounded, built around the idea that showing up to the same place with the same families over time is how real community gets made.
The permanent space is on the way. Joyhaus is being built as an indoor play café for families with children ages 0 to 10, designed around how caregiving actually works. A parent should be able to sit down with a good cup of coffee, answer an email, or simply take a breath while their child plays nearby in a safe and thoughtfully designed environment. Siblings will be able to grow into the space at different stages. Families will have somewhere in their own neighborhood to land.
If any part of what we are building resonates with you, whether as a family, a community partner, or someone interested in supporting the vision, we would love to hear from you.
